The junior section of Ross on Wye golf club is a small friendly group of juniors who enjoy the benefit of a challenging course upon which to learn and develop their golf. There are many junior competitions in which to play, including a Knockout competition to find a junior Champion. James Reid was the 2008 junior champion.
We have a team managed by Tony Howells that plays in the North Gloucestershire League and competition for places in this team is very fierce. They have reached the final for three years running, coming third, then second and hopefully they will be first this year. They are coached through the year by the professional Paul Middleton who is helped by assistant professional Katie Edwards.
Juniors, both boys and girls can play in the junior competitons and are given handicaps as soon as they have put in three cards and when they achieve a congu handicap of 36 for girls and 18 for boys they can play also in adult competitions. There are also mixed competitions though the year in which they play with men and ladies and these are usually fun competitions.
The Junior Captain is Alex Bain who is a five handicap golfer who plays in the first team as well as helping the junior organiser and junior committee to run their competitions.
