Ross on Wye Golf Club Juniors Hold a Successful AGM

The very bad weather suffered by everyone during this winter was responsible for the cancellation of the first junior competition of Ross on Wye Golf Club's junior section. So Wednesday heralded the start of the season with an eighteen hole stableford qualifying competition enjoyed by a good contingent of players in the first sunny day of the season. The juniors were joined by guest Alex Bain last year's Junior Captain

The competition winner was Harry Butler with 37 stableford pts , second, Ross Jenkins with 35 pts and third was newest junior member Thomas Bristow with 34 pts. The putting competition was won by Alex Bain with Thomas Bristow winning the nearest the pin. The 2009 eclectic competition was won by Ross Jenkins with Alex Bain second .
The juniors then joined their parents and the Club Captain Graham Smith, Ladies' Captain Josie Wilson for sandwiches and a review of the year with presentation of Prizes. With a slide show of the year's photographs. The Captain presented Captains' pullovers to Alex Bain for 2009 and to new junior Captain Will Turpin wishing Will good luck for the new year.
Team Manager Tony Howells gave an account of the very successful year the junior team had in 2009 winning the northern Gloucester league and representing the league at South Cerney in the eastern qualifier. They also won the Gloucester Team Championship proving how strong a junior section Ross has. He also presented team trophies to the squad.
The Junior organiser Janet Hyndman thanked the junior committee members for their help through the year especially Julia Wilde for her organisation of the introduction of golf into local schools using Tri-golf equipment. She also thanked Ellie Peake and Judith Landau for their considerable help.
