WAS ELECTED AS PRESIDENT OF THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE LADIES' COUNTY GOLF ASSOCIATION FOR THE YEAR 2010/11.

Sarah Forrest has been nominated as County Treasurer taking over from Sue Tamblyn.

COUNTY BOARD

It has been another busy season for the Gloucestershire Ladies Golf Association.

The majority of the competitions have now been completed.

But our pair of Kerry Welding and Sarah Forrest are still going strong in the County Foursomes.

They have reached the finals  where they will play either Broadway or Lilleybrook on 9th October at Stinchcombe Hill. Any supporters would be very welcome!

The sign up notice for this winters County Foursomes (the winners of which go through to compete in the county–wide competition starting next spring) will be going up soon.

Ross-on-Wye ladies have featured in most of the competitions in the county this season. We have not yet come home with any trophies, but we had a notable 4th place in the Australian Spoons final for our pair of Carol Eaves and Gillian Clouder at Weston-super-Mare. This was pleasing as we have been trying to encourage entries in the Australian Spoons, a foursomes competition for players with a handicap of 20 or more. As well as  being invited to enter on  a specific Tuesday in the summer, players were able to enter a card for the competition at any time by signing in the book – only £1  per pair.

We must remember that County competitions are not just for elite golfers!

Amanda Marshall and Helen Palmer did not manage to defend their title in the Fraser Foursomes competition, but did win the best afternoon gross score.

Please watch the County Board for competitions – it’s a good way of playing other courses at relatively little cost.

Next summer Ross-on-Wye is playing host to the Western Daily Press Cup competition on Thursday 7th June 2012.
