'Seniors Success Means Ross Juniors Benefit'

'Seniors Success Means Juniors Benefit'

The successful fundraising initiative at Ross Golf Club's Annual Seniors Singles Open in July when 154 players took part on the day has resulted in Seniors Captain Richard Escolme being able to make a £356 donation on behalf of the Ross Club, to the highly effective Ross Juniors Academy organised and run by the Tim Hall School of Golf which Head Professional Tim Hall brought to the Gorsley based Club 2 years ago. Ross Juniors Captain Niall Powell was pleased to accept the monies on behalf of the Academy in a year when there have been so many success stories to report, not least the improvements witnessed by 11 years old Harry Griffiths and 10 years old Timmy Fycun. Harry, who lives in Ledbury and is a pupil at Colwall Primary School near Malvern and now holds a 28  golf handicap recently scored a nett 71 medal score to win the Pams Cup which was held at Broadway Golf Club as part of the Club's Juniors Open, to add to his many trophy wins this season. Timmy who is a pupil at Bridstow Primary School regularly represents the Ross Club in First4Golf Tournaments held at the Thornbury Golf Club near Bristol organised by the Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership and his latest successes include second places in an 18 holes competition and a 9 holes event with Timmy currently playing off a 54 handicap.

On behalf of Ross Seniors members, Richard Escolme was also able to make a £200 donation to Arthur Reid who is Chairman of the Club's Greens Committee and this will result in an investment return for all Club members as the funds will bring about a refurbishment of the golf-ball washers on the course.
