'Matty Completes Another Season in Fine Style'

For the second successive year Ross Golf Club's Annual Captain's Prizes event in which all sections of the Club took part was one by a member of the Club's high performing Ross Juniors Academy.  17 handicapper Matty Dobbs was delighted that his 44 stableford points total was just enough to enable the teenager to receive the days top prize from Club Captain Robert Tuttiett. This win fully justifies the investment of practice and focus which Matty attaches to his 'continuous improvement policy, and he can reflect with satisfaction upon the progress he has made since he won the Club's Collins Flag major 15 months ago when Matty was playing off a 27 handicap.

The Club's Ladies section were delighted that their members claimed many of the days prizes with runner-up Jessie Lawrence enjoying a 44 points haul to just miss out on the top spot on count-back. Sheila Curtis was a 3rd place prize winner with 43 points and also won the ladies nearest the pin prize on the 7th green. It has been a remarkable year for another teenager Rhian McGinley whose 42 points won her 4th prize to add to her major successes which will result in her name appearing on two of the honours boards for Junior Cup winners. David Whitehead and Peter Bennett impressed with 41 points each with Peter claiming the men's nearest the pin prize on the 7th green. Oliver Prentice with 41 points was able to continue the good form which won him the Club's 2018 Len Weston Cup as did Joe Irvine with 40 points with Joe finishing his season successfully in defeating Club Secretary Ian Griffiths in the final of the Hospital Cup. Another 2018 Junior Cup winner 6 handicapper Jordan Hughes scored 40 points as did Chris Tweedale the Club's 2018 Marsh Allan Trophy winner when Chris was the best net performer in the Club's Seniors Championship.
